Performance, Maintenance, & Reliability

Argus system equipment

For over 25 years, Argus Systems have proven their performance in the professional horticulture industry.
  • Argus Systems are specifically designed to provide high-end performance in often harsh horticultural climates.
  • Generally, our systems have proved more reliable than the equipment they control.
  • Our software has been designed to manage equipment failures safely.
  • The dedicated and distributed control features of our systems enhance reliability and safety.
To limit or prevent electrical damage, Argus components are designed with the latest lightning and overcurrent protection technology. Although our systems have extensive built-in protection, they can sometimes be damaged (like all electronic equipment) by improper handling, direct lightning strikes, and electric current surges or brownouts. In practice, very few of our installations experience problems and even then, the damage is usually limited to a few components which can be easily and inexpensively repaired. In situations where problems do occur, all replacement parts can usually be delivered to you by the next working day.

Low Ownership Costs

You will likely never need on-site service. Our systems are designed from the ground up for remote support. You’ll only pay for additional parts, training, or system configuration should your requirements fall outside of your original system specifications.

Warranty

Our hardware is backed by a standard one-year warranty against defects in materials and workmanship, and we offer a fast, low cost parts exchange service for damaged equipment after the warranty period has expired.

Maintenance

With the exception of certain sensors, most Argus System components, including the controllers and I/O modules, require no periodic maintenance or upkeep. The system is self-monitoring with extensive failure alarm capabilities to detect and annunciate system problems. While most of the system components supplied by Argus can be expected to operate trouble-free for many years, certain components will require regular maintenance and eventual replacement. Sensors tend to have the shortest reliable life span of all control system components. This is due to many factors, including the types of sensors selected, the conditions being monitored, and the sensor environment. By nature, most sensors cannot be protected from their environment - they must be exposed to it to make proper measurements. For these reasons, routine maintenance, calibration, and replacement of sensors will be an ongoing cost associated with your control system. Where applicable, care and maintenance instructions for each sensor is provided.

At Argus, we try to provide the best fit in sensor selection that will provide a balance of reliability, longevity, accuracy, resolution, minimal maintenance, and price. We support all of the products we supply and in many cases we can also interface to other sensors and equipment systems provided by third parties. However, you must ensure the accuracy and reliability of these components.
